becc_j who encouraged me to post this prompt. I thought it was maybe a bit too morbid and I was about to replace it by a rather schoomp prompt before Becc's intervention.

Inspiration?
For this prompt, I was inspired by two things:
1) The great video by Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Mary Jane's Last Dance. A morgue assistant (Tom Petty) takes home a dead woman (Kim Bassinger). He talks to her, dresses her with a wedding dress, tries to have dinner with her in beautiful room full of candles but of course, the dead lady doesn't react to anything. After several hours spent with her, Tom finally gives up and carries Kim Basinger through a cave before placing her in the water. That's when she opens her eyes and look straight to the camera.
2) The Living Dead Dolls. My working title for this prompt was Jensen A.'s Last Dance but when Namichan turned it into Living Dead Guy, I knew I had to pay tribute to the dolls by Mezco. (That's the 1st thing I thought about when she mentionned the title of the fic. The collection I have at home helped a bit...) The dolls are sold in a coffin with a death certificate and most of them are inspired by urban legends or horror movie characters. I copied the style of the dolls for the Poster Art and the community banner.

When I saw the prompt for the first time, I already thought "Huh, well, that's gonna be an interesting story to read." Never thought I would be the one to write it. If I would have had the time, I would have probably written another 30k+ story, but... well, it's probably for the better :) I can still write stories >10k, yay.
Anyway! Loved the prompt, loved to write the story, and most of all, loved to work with you! The way you adapted to my altered fic title and the subsequent ideas that resulted from it really proved how awesome the RBB really is! See you next year? ;)
The art is, once again, incredibly detailed and gorgeous and I love the B&W style to pieces. My favorite is definitely Jensen wearing his glasses, because YUM.

You did really great in such a very short amount of time, not to mention that you were busy with other challenges at the same time.
When you told me about the title, I couldn't help thinking about the Living Dead Dolls. And you know, this prompt was already completely inappropriate, full of dark humor so a little bit less, a little bit more? I didn't make any difference xD Apparently, people loved it, some even when out of their comfort zone and read the fic even this "necrophiliac" Jared wasn't their cup of tea.
Once again a big THANK you for your hard work!

I'm working on a comic at the moment that is also in B&W so I think that you will see more in the future. It's Gen, Sam and Dean. Around 15 pages but for the moment, I only drew one and an half -______-

Date: 2012-12-03 10:25 pm (UTC)I really like the layout style you have for your comics, without too many actual panels, you blend the images together, I think it looks awesome.
The banners and dividers looks great as well. The Header is really cute, love how you wrote the date of his death as the date you posted the fic <3
How long did it take you to create a page? One or two people have asked me to draw comics but I have no idea about comics and I don't know how long they take to draw, it doesn't look easy.
Anyway I'm so glad you went ahead with drawing this prompt, the end result is amazing and I'm going to check out the fic now. :)

For the lighting, I looked at screen shots from old movies like Casablanca to obtain the same kind of shading.

To tell you the truth, I thought that this "necrophiliac prompt" was a bit too much and I almost didn't post it. It's Becc who convinced me but I was already thinking about something else, something schmoopier ^^;;
I couldn't imagine such a story drawn in colors. I thought that B&W fitted better for the tone and the atmosphere of such a prompt. For the lighting, I looked at screen shots from old movies like Casablanca to obtain the same kind of shading.

I love drawing realistic style. In fact, it's the only thing I can do, I am completely unable to draw comic or manga style for instance.
