PART TWO: BINGO TRIVIA
Tools of the trade?
- Manga Studio Ex (line art and screentones)
- Photoshop CS4 (Color and textures)
Screentones?
Yes, for some backgrounds (Torture, Headaches) and what is called 2Dlt rendering (an image turned into a screentone thanks to a Manga Studio tool) on several drawings like Loss of Home or De-age but I used mostly the 3D tool of Manga Studio Ex to help me with the perspective of some items like the chair and the telephone on Poltergeist and the wheel chair in Accident.
How long did it take you?
More than one month and an half for the complete card. I would say two nights per drawings (I work at night).
Most difficult?
Disappearing and Scars.
The first one because of the number of characters on the drawings (seven) and the second one because of the perspective and the lighting.
Easiest?
Therapy.
I usually don't really like drawings hands but I remember I drew this art quite fast. The coloring was quite easy too, unlike Scars for
example. I wish it worked that smoothly for all the squares but it didn't.
Funniest?
Magical trouble because of the genderswap and Sex Pollen (the wild card) because of the little pixies having a good laugh at the
bottom of the picture. These little creature should have appeared in only one drawing (Magical trouble) but I liked them so much that they
ended up in three illustrations.
Fail?
Yes! Loss of home and Caught in a Robbery.
Caught in a Robbery was the first one I drew. I didn't know exactly where I was heading, particularly when it comes to colors. I didn't have a precise idea either of the concept as you can see below. On the left, the first version with a rather basic coloring, on the right, the final version with a different kind of coloring and texturizing. Not mention Dean's fabulous family jewels. Huh..No, not the ones you are thinking of...
Loss of Home caused me some problems too. Here is what the first art what looking like: Sam and Dean kissing in front of the bus for Stanford. I dropped it because I thought there was a problem with characters' likeness and body proportions. It just didn't work. I prefer the new version better, with Sam sitting alone next to the bus.

The autopsy one made me sad. And so did the PTSD one-though Dean was very beautiful. The deaging one was great too.
The loss of home one with Sam and Dean on a bus was cute, and the little t-rex one was adorable.
The phobias and deprogramming ones with Sam were funny yet creepy.

Genderswap are REALLY hard to do. It's hard to keep the actor's features and to turn them into the one of a beautiful girl. Jared is the easiest, though. I tried to draw Misha as a girl once but it was an epic fail, I never did it again xD

Thanks also for enjoying the gif. I love adding step by step but I don't want to post something too long and too technical so I prefer posting a gif instead. I'm a sucker for night tones. I'm sure I could have drawn the whole bingo card using only a blue palette but it would have been a bit too much xD

Disappearing - The separate drawings and the whole composition are so beautiful.
Poltergeist - I don't really know why I like this piece so much. Maybe because of the way everything is raining down on Dean :D
Sex Pollen - Well, it's really hot, but I love that it also has a comical element.
Therapy - I loved this scene so much on the show and your close-up drawing looks so powerful.
Phobias - Nightmares! No really, it's amazing who frightening this looks.
Scars - It's sad and so beautiful at the same time. Somehow it also just looks really cool.

I also adore square 13 because can't have enough J2.
However, my favourite has to be SQUARE 8 (Dean/Alistair)..So beautifully perceived and drawn. Love the black and white tones with the touch of red for added drama. Also the highlights in Dean's hair is super sexy. It's amazing, simple but clever and dramatically eye-catching. Dean looks especially lovely and vulnerable in this position.
