Happy Valentine's Day!!

A very Happy Valentine's Day to you all if you celebrate it. I'm not gonna do anything special, I think it will just be a poor excuse to eat chocolate and draw some Wincest schmoop art (full size HERE if you are interested).

That wreath is super-great. How DID you do it?
I had the look for the word in the dictionary, I didn't know "wreath" xD
Ok, it's easy but a bit long. It's a technique called the "cut out technique", the same used by Adam Hughes in his art even if I cheated a lot.

To reach this result A.H uses the lasso tool, I don't. I drew the flowers as if it was a "normal CG painting", then I used the "cut out" filter (I think it's in filters >> artistic >> cut out) and then I redrew on it with a basic brush to add shadows and highlights. It's a bit long but as I am not familiar with cel-shading coloring, I found it, bizarrely, more simple than trying the whole "shadows and gradients" thing :/

OMG, I LOVE Adam Hughes! (And I read on tumblr maybe that you love Shawn Barber and Kevin Llewellyn too, right? We could be art twins! How about Michael Hussar? SO weird but SO beautiful. You should also check out Dan Dos Santos; he's a little less weird but his colors are spectacular.)

I ordered his book, White, on his website, it should be shipped on March 1st. I just can't wait!!
I'm not really into Dan Dos Santos but I love an artist called Sean Cheetham, he's wonderful:

Oh, gawd, I'll bet that book will be GLORIOUS! And I love Cheetham too. He's not as prolific, though. Have you seen Donato Giancola? He's a little fantasy-artsy, but he does amazing realism. http://www.donatoart.com/

I dig Dave Palumbo too: http://davepalumbo.blogspot.com/ More of an illustrator, but again, does some juicy contemporary portraits.
