RANDOM QUESTIONS

What's the concept ?

This is an illustration art for a J2 RPF AU called Smoke and Lightning, written by Misses shotgunpoetry  and eviltwin . In this story, tattoos and bod mod have an important place so I thought that showing a little bit of the boys' flesh ink wasn't a bad idea. I conceived the art like a book or a magazine cover.

Why did you post this fan art  in this account and not on your main one ? It's not erotic at all, no need to "hide" it!

Honestly ? It's just for the silly pleasure to update smallworld_inc   I love the layout and I wanted to add one more drawing to the Fan Art Master Post (childish and ridiculous, I know...)


Where did you get the inspiration from ?

I went to a tattoo convention in Tokyo last week, King of Tattoo 2010, and bought there a fantastic book by artist Shawn Barber. It made me feel like drawing hot boys with tattoos again and a fan art for arealwildchild  community and for Smoke and Lightning was just perfect. Not to mention that it's a phony pretext to draw the boys together, a thing I've never had the occasion to do for this fic.

A pencil sketch for this drawing ?

Nope. An ink sketch actually, it was definitely quicker. However as it was just a try, I didn't bother to draw the tattoos. Starting with this kind of draft is actually pretty useful because it gave me the possibility to realize 3 things :

- the typo wasn't really adapted. I needed something more "old school" and less "graffiti" 
- the position of Jensen's left hand, the one behind his head,  was a little bit weird anatomically speaking (I changed it on the final version)
- the blue/purple palette doesn't work that good so I finally choose to use sepia and brown instead of blue and magenta.




Favorite thing to draw ?

The tattoos and Jensen's chest, definitely.

Most boring ?

The typo. It's not my cup of tea, honestly, but it's an important part of the picture so....

God this looks glorious! I love the pose, tattoos and this is exactly how i figure them to myself. They are so cute and lovable. I've almost finished Book 1 and I'm so in love with this story, the boys and now with your picture too! <3

I've just finished Book II and I finally started Book III but I am progressing quite slowly. I drew them as they are in Book II and III actually, a little bit older. I loved the idea (and in addition, it was a pretext to draw the boys as they are now with tattoos ^^)

I am an obsessive font collector too. I have SO many of them!! But as I never remember which is which sometimes I spend hours trying to find the RIGHT font when I use Photoshop -____- The reverse BB gave me a good pretext to dl new fonts (but it's just a pretext, I would have done it anyway ^^)

Wow, that's gorgeous!

Bon, ok, mais vocabulaire anglais est assez limité donc je passe en français si ça te dérange pas! Oui, oui, je suis un feignasse. J'adore le niveau de détail, que ce soit au niveau des tatouages ou de leurs visages. Leurs expressions sont juste parfaites, totalement en accord avec l'idée qu'on se fait des personnages en lisant l'histoire!

Après, je suis pas tout à fait sûr d'accrocher au sépia mais c'est qu'un détail!

J'ai franchement hâte de voir ce que vont donner tes deux projets pour le reverse bang (quand je pense que je poste le même jour que toi... j'ai honte xD)

Merci pour le commentaire en français, donc, ça fait du bien \o/ et surtout pour avoir porté attention à tous les petits détails, en particulier leurs visages.

Le sépia rend bien mieux crois-moi. C'est bizarre mais dans les tons bleutés, Jared a l'air moins possessif. Avec du sépia, on a plus l'impression que ses yeux crient "Mine!", je ne sais pas pourquoi, les couleurs chaudes peut être =)

Mes 2 projets pour le RBB ? J'en ai TROIS et je n'ai pas encore fini, rha là là...Mais bon, je poste dans les derniers alors ça va ^^ Des fois je m'engage dans de ces trucs, ça me dépasse un peu.... :/

This is fantastic! I love the intimacy of it, in the tangle of their arms, and the way the light plays on their faces. The boys' expressions are wonderful, Jared's slightly possessive and Jensen's contentment. He looks almost somewhat...proud?

I'm not quite sure how I missed this on my flist, but again gorgeous. I love the possessive nature of Jared's stance as well as Jensen's expression. I can't really explain it, but it just grips me and pulls me into it. And the tattoos are beautifully done. How long did this one take you from start to finish?

I don't know how long it took me. I didn't draw it in "one shot", I kept coming back to the drawing from time to time during one week. I would say around 25 hours (maybe)

I know, I should have extended the pic lower but like that, you can imagine if the boys have their pants on or not ^^

I love the warm sepia tones you've used - I think they really work well with the tattoo colours, and the reference shots you used work so well in that pose. And some really nice brushwork here. Definitely going to check out Shawn Barber's work. It looks inspirational.

Shawn Barber is an AMAZING artist who should be more famous. Unfortunately, his books are expensive and rapidly out of order. If you find one one day his books sold half price, just don't hesitate!
