Description of the fic

Title: Into Oblivion
Rating: NC-17 for death (temporary), amnesia (temporary), permanent injury, drug use (marijuana), a necrophiliac kiss, and porn (barebacking)

Summary: AU after 8x23: Sam dies before completing the last trial, leaving Dean alone and desperate. After a month of trying to bring Sam back with no luck, Dean gets a tip from the most unlikely of places: Metatron. Now reigning in Heaven, the angel is still looking for stories—one story in particular. Sam and Dean broke destiny when they derailed the apocalypse, rewrote the book Metatron had penned himself so many thousands of years ago, and now theirs is the only history the Scribe of God can't access. Although he has Sam's soul captive in Heaven, no amount of torture has convinced Sam to give up his and Dean's life story.

Metatron gives Dean a scroll and makes a bet: if Dean can follow the instructions and return Sam's soul to his body within three days, then Heaven will relinquish its claim on Sam. If he can't? Dean will forget he ever had a brother, and all of his memories of Sam will belong to Metatron. It sounds like a fair enough deal, but of course there's a catch. From the moment Dean reads the instructions, he begins to forget Sam and his quest, each memory disappearing faster the more clues he leaves to keep himself on track. It's a race against the clock to decide Sam's life, and it's all or nothing. Dean will get his brother back—or lose him completely.

Résumé de la BD: Saison 8. Affaibli par la dernière des trois Epreuves qui l’a poussé jusque dans ses derniers retranchements, Sam, épuisé et malade, décède quelques jours seulement après la Chute fatidique des Anges. Après plusieurs mois d’intenses recherches faites de fausses pistes et d’espoirs déçus, Dean trouve finalement le moyen de ramener son frère à la vie grâce à un sort inscrit au dos d'un vieux parchemin. Cependant, le prix à payer est élevé : à partir du moment précis où il lira les instructions qui lui apprendront comment ramener Sam d’entre les morts, Dean commencera à oublier petit à petit sa mission et celui qu’il doit sauver. L’ainé des Winchester a maintenant 72 heures pour accomplir scrupuleusement le rituel. S’il réussit, tout sera de retour à la normale. S’il échoue Sam restera « de l’autre côté » et sera à jamais effacé de sa mémoire. Dean sera-t-il capable de sauver un frère qu’il oublie un peu plus à chaque seconde qui s’écoule ?

I am working, I swear, but I wanted to see if I could beat the rush and be the first to comment on this art. :DDD

I AM JUST THE MOST SPOILED LITTLE AUTHOR ON THE PLANET AND I AM DYING STILL, AS I HAVE EVERY TIME I HAVE LOOKED AT THE COMIC FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS. Where to even begin with this, I mean, seriously? Such an awesome and unique idea and I am just so honored I got to take a swing at it! I freaked out the moment I saw it: amnesia fic!? dead Sammy?! ALL THE ANGST???? YOUR ART!!!?!!?!!?!? It was too much goodness to be true. So many things I love wrapped up in one. :')

I love love love, as usual, your attention to deal. Every single panel was so rich and told such a complete story, I tried my best to honor that in the fic, but I suppose only time will tell if I've succeeded. XD Sam carving Sam's name all over him in the desperation to remember--augh, it's just all the best things about Dean Winchester wrapped up with a bow and a side of scar kink. :DDDD

There is so much love evident between the two of them in the snapshots you give up: in how tenderly Sam cradles dead!Sam's face and how casually the sprawl over each other when they're smoking. Plus...look. I know I said it like 100 times when you first sent met he comic, but THAT PANEL OF DEAN HOLDING SAM DOWN WHILE HE FUCKS HIM IS JUST. Inspiring...very "inspiring." ;)

All of this art is just so amazing--I guess you know after all these years of me leaving you capslocky comments how much I love your style. But getting to actually work with you has been a dream come true. I'm so sorry I was MIA so much of the time and thank you for being so sweet and patient with me, seriously. I hope that you love the fic as much as I love this art. ♥

Every single panel was so rich and told such a complete story,
I think that every panel was a complex way to torture slowly and to make your brain melt. My god, when I think about it....Death fic + brothers co-dependency + amnesia + complicated timeline? I don't know what else I could have added to make it even more complicated. I think that next year if there is a RBB, I'm gonna draw something far more simple or else my author is gonna throw me out of the window xD

I found it about a year ago I think and I immediately thought, "I HAVE TO USE IT ONE DAY". It's the equivalent of a plot bunny for an author I think. I'm not often satisfied with my work but when I finished this panel with Dean fucking Sam, I was HAPPY!!

Your artwork always blows me away, and this entry is no exception. I don't know how you do it - it's like looking at a photograph, only with more emotion. I can see the pain and sadness and happiness etched into their faces, and it just brings the whole thing to life. Your attention to detail is astounding, and I'm always so amazed how you manage to get their mannerisms and quirks into your pics.

I'm mad about details, I'm absolutely unable to draw something simple. I don't care if people won't pay attention, that it's something that is only visible on the HD version of the drawing, I WILL draw it ^^ Ha! Ha!

Oh, bb, these are gorgeous as usual, but there's something different here. Stunning art as always, but you've really captured emotions, too. The love between the brothers, Dean's determination, the pain he must be enduring . . . truly moving images. I love them all, but the header, with the rain, negative!Sam, and Dean on his quest, is just STUNNING. Magnificent work!

I really wasn't sure about this one, I was afraid there was too much "information" on the image and that it was a bit confusing for the viewer. I changed a lot of things while I was working on. It wasn't very easy to handle ^^

You have no idea...The quality of my sleep has getting worse lately so I spend my time drawing, writing or reading. :/ That's why I was able to draw so many comic pages in such a short amount of time.

I can't sleep! It's better to create something than staying my eyes wide open in my bed. I know I won't be able to sleep before 4:00 so...

omg it's here! Actually I had forgotten about this one, but now looking at the pages again, I remember the beautiful black and white hatching style. I'm curious to read the story for this as well. Love Sam in white outline in the header and the smashed watch with the numbers leaking out is really cool. The art is amazingly dark, and moody and so sad. I love all there expressions :)

I had forgotten about this one
Don't worry, I had almost forgotten about this one too! I started to work on my RBB on the 14th of July and we posted it on February 13th so it made almost 7 months xD

Once again, I can't thank you enough for the beta and for taking the time to help me solve (very, very patiently) the problems linked to page 4. It was necessary to rework the page in order to make everything flow.

*cough-cough* Speaking about beta, I may have something for you: I was so pissed off by the fact that my phone was stolen that I spent my whole weekend drawing (when I'm angry, I draw more). I have written a new chapter for my Sam's Journal (about Valentine's Day). I think I'll send you all this in a couple of days away but I won't post it before the 24 or the 25 so you have all the time to have a look at it.

The hotness of the Js is something we can't escape my friend! ^^

It's cruel that you posted the art master post before Cherie unlocked her journal. Now I'm sitting here dying and waiting to see the companion to your art. Seriously though, you two working together is making me freak out (just a bit). You're pretty much my dream team.

Per usual, your art is absolutely breathtaking (and amazing, and stunning, and a hundred other adjectives). I really have to say though, that third page with Sam smoking... All I can say is that I have is this great image in my head of them throwing on some sweats and a t-shirt after sex and sharing a cigarette. God, there is something just sexy about that. AKA, I love that panel.

Also, the fourth page as a whole is my favorite page (and not just because of the second panel). I love the details that you added into it, they really speak volumes. Like how short Sam's hair is young Sam looks in the first panel and then how long his hair is how old he looks in the third one... It's obvious how long they've been together.

The way this is done: black and white and crosshatched textures. It's so brilliant... Moody. For me, it created the deliciously dark effect of subconsciously associating the crosshatches with Dean's scars before I even saw them etched into his skin. It's kind of chilling.

Anyway, amazing job! I can't wait to read the fic. (:

We should have unlocked at the same time but the poor Cherie hadn't finished working on the fic. I must admit it's my fault: the prompt was complicated on so many levels:
- it was long (7 pages)
- the timeline isn't linear and amnesia is a big part of the plot :/
But she did great so I guarantee an awesome fic! You're gonna love it!

I really have to say though, that third page with Sam smoking...
I have a big smoking!kink, for Dean AND for Sam. I think I only drew him a couple of times smoking a cigarette but I should do it more because I find him so hot when he smokes ^^

I can't tell you how long it took and how many layers I needed to create this crosshatching effect! I thought it was gonna go fast (because I worked in B&W) but no! I even had to take a break because the cross-hatching made my shoulder hurt, ha! ha!

Oh, you noticed the chronological progression? It was important to show the passing of time to explain they had been together for years.

Spectacular art!!! You always push yourself a little differently every time, and the results are amazing! I LOVE how the comic book is all cross-hatching, and the shading that cross-hatching creates! You used white as a major accent,and it was so effective, like in Dean's eyelashes on a close-up. Everything was very flowy - the sheets flowing into Dean's hair in the panel underneath. Loved the water droplets throughout - the sweat as they make love, during the trial, the tears. Then the art for the dividers and banners and all? So wonderful! The watch with the numbers running off - ah!! Just gorgeous stuff!! Kudos x one million!!

You always push yourself a little differently every time,
I love trying something new and experimenting new technique. This one killed me though: crosshatching is far more exhausting and time-consuming than what I had originally planned. My shoulder hurt when I finished the comic. Even if I had a custom brush to help me, at least 70% of the work was done stroke after strokes, very patiently xD

I waited to look at the art until after I read the story - usually I don't have that much self-control, but something about the summary of the story... I just wanted to wait. I'm really glad I did because, oh man, your art and the story, one without the other, can't even imagine it. Kinda like the fic, huh? :)

You were right to wait for the fic before discovering the comic. The RBB is a particular challenge and here, the comic is VERY spoilery for the fic as Cherie really, really followed the plot closely ^^ I must admit I'm not that patient: I always go to look at the art first because I'm too impatient to see what my friends have drawn ^^
