screen tones are the the little dots the background exists of, so the drawing looks more comic like? Yes absolutely! You see a manga page ? The screentones are everything that is grey. It can be, the gradients, the shadows, the sets, some patterns on the characters clothes. It's everything that is not the outlines in fact ^^ They are sold as sheets that work like decalcomanias but now, thanks to the digital softwares, we just scan them and add them to the pic digitally :D
